What does it mean to archive a site?
Nostalgia
"Nostalgia" is a melancholic piece about childhood and the longevity of memory. Inspired by the sights and experiences of exploring the Washington Arboretum, this work pays tribute to the experiences and people that contribute to one's upbringing.

Context
In ART 460 at the University of Washington, we explored various sites around Seattle and were asked to consider our relationship with nature. To end our class, we were challenged to take inspiration from these sites and create a work that uses found objects.
Process
I wanted to create a series of works that reference childhood and the ways that nature can inspire reflection. For the base of these works, I took photos from the Washington Arboretum and combined them with pictures of myself from childhood. I manipulated the photos in Adobe Photoshop to create distorted backgrounds and characters that reflect the haziness of memory.
Final Product
The finishing step of this work was to add found objects to the image. I used glue and twine to add natural objects (e.g., sticks and leaves) to the printed images. The found objects added an extra dimension to the images and added to the distortion.
